Discovering the Best Engagement Rings in Westminster, CA

Flush set engagement rings are becoming increasingly popular due to their modern and elegant design. These rings have the gemstone seated directly into the band, creating a smooth, flush surface. This article will explore some of the advantages and drawbacks of this mounting style.

Discovering the Finest Wedding Bands in Westminster, CA

  1. Durability: A primary advantage of flush set engagement rings is their durability. The gemstone is firmly embedded in the band, reducing the risk of damage or loss.
  2. Comfort: Since the stone is not protruding from the band’s surface, these rings are very comfortable to wear daily, without snagging on clothes or objects.
  3. Versatility: This type of setting can accommodate a variety of gemstones and cuts, making it a versatile choice for those who value uniqueness in their engagement ring.

  1. Limited Sparkle: One potential drawback of flush settings is that they may limit the sparkle of certain gemstones due to less light exposure as compared to prong or bezel settings.
  2. Cleaning Difficulty: Since the stone is embedded into the metal, it can be more challenging to clean dirt and debris that may accumulate beneath it over time.

Despite these potential downsides, many couples opt for flush set engagement rings for their contemporary appeal and practicality. Before making your final decision, consider your lifestyle and personal style preference along with these pros and cons.

Choosing the Perfect Bridal Rings at Our Company in Westminster, CA: Understanding Band Width as an Essential Factor

When buying any ring, one crucial factor often overlooked is the band width. It plays a significant role in determining not only how comfortable your ring feels but also how it looks on your finger.

Band width typically ranges from thin (1-2mm) to thick (6mm or more). Thin bands are delicate and feminine while thicker bands have a bold presence. Choosing an appropriate band width depends on various factors:

1.Hand size: If you have larger hands or long fingers, you might prefer wider bands as they can complement your hand better.

2.Stone size & Shape: A large center stone might look disproportionate on a thin band while small stones can get overshadowed by wide bands.

3.Your Comfort: Thicker bands might feel heavy initially but offer better durability whereas thin bands are lightweight but may warp over time if not handled carefully.

Band width affects overall ring aesthetics and comfort level so make sure to try various widths before making your final choice.

Understanding Band Width: An Essential Factor in Choosing Rings

When choosing a ring, whether it’s for an engagement, wedding, or simply as a fashion statement, there are many important aspects to consider. One such essential criterion is the band width of the ring. The band width can change the entire look and feel of a ring and impact its comfort level on your hand.

What is Band Width?

Band width refers to the measurement across the widest part of the ring as viewed from above. It’s typically measured in millimeters (mm) and can range from very thin bands around 1mm to wider bands upwards of 8mm.

Discovering Your Perfect Wedding Ring in Westminster, CA

  • Delicate Appearance: Thin bands often give rings a delicate and elegant appearance. They are ideal for highlighting center stones without being distracting.
  • Comfort: Due to their slight presence, thin bands tend to be more comfortable for individuals who aren’t used to wearing rings.
  • Affordability: Less metal means lower cost. Thus, narrow bands can often make more expensive metals like platinum or gold more affordable.

  • Durability Concerns: Because there’s less metal used in thin bands, they may be less durable over time, especially if you’re rough on your hands.
  • Size Restrictions: If you want to add details like engraving inside the band later on, size might be an issue with thinner designs.

Discovering Moissanite Rings in Westminster, CA

  • Sturdiness: Wider bands are generally sturdier due to their greater amount of metal content.
  • Versatility: Wider bands allow room for additional details like engravings, inset gems and creative design elements.
  • Visibility: With their larger surface area, wide band rings are more visible and make a bold fashion statement.

Discovering Diamond Rings in Westminster, CA

  • Comfort Issues: Some people might find wider bands uncomfortable or cumbersome especially if they have smaller hands or shorter fingers.
  • Price Point: More metal means higher cost. Wider rings made from precious metals can be significantly more expensive.

Choosing the right band width ultimately boils down to personal preference and lifestyle. Factors such as your day-to-day activities, hand shape and size should also influence your decision-making process when picking out a ring. Trying on different styles with varying widths can help determine what feels right for you personally. A professional jeweler can also provide expert advice tailored specifically towards your needs and preferences when selecting a ring with just the right fit & style.

Determining the Ideal Height of the Center Stone for Your Ring

When it comes to choosing an engagement ring, one factor that often gets overlooked is the height of the center stone. The height, also known as the setting or profile, can significantly impact not only the appearance of your ring but also its practicality and comfort.

So what is the ideal height for a center stone? This largely depends on personal preference and lifestyle. However, there are some general guidelines you can follow.

Discover Diamond Engagement Rings in Westminster, CA

Low profile settings typically have a height of 2-3mm from the base to the top of the diamond. The advantages and disadvantages include:

  • Security: Lower settings are less likely to catch on clothing or other objects, which reduces the risk of loss or damage.
  • Comfort: Because these settings don’t stand out as much, they may feel more comfortable and easier to wear every day.
  • Practicality: If you work with your hands or lead an active lifestyle, a low-profile setting can be more practical.

  • Limited Style Options: Low-profile settings may not provide enough room for some intricate designs.
  • Maintenance: Dirt and grime can accumulate underneath low-set stones more easily.

Medium profile settings usually range from 3-5mm in height. They offer a balance between style and practicality.

  • Style Options: There’s plenty of room for different types of embellishments and designs.
  • Visibility: The diamond sits up higher which allows more light to enter, enhancing its sparkle.

  • Potential Discomfort: They may snag on clothing or other items more frequently than lower profiles.

High Profile Settings

High profile settings have a height greater than 5mm. They are often chosen for their dramatic look but do come with certain downsides.

  • Aesthetic Appeal: High settings can make diamonds appear larger and more noticeable.
  • More Light Play: More light can pass through high-set stones creating exceptional brilliance.

  • Riskier: High-set stones have a higher risk of getting knocked or scratched.
  • Less Comfortable: Some people find high-profile rings uncomfortable to wear every day due to their protrusion.

The choice between a low, medium or high profile will depend on your personal style and daily routine. It’s always best to try on different heights before making a decision. Remember – there’s no universal ‘right’ answer when it comes to choosing an engagement ring; it’s about what makes you feel best!

How to Choose the Right Size and Shape of Center Stone for Your Ring

Choosing the right size and shape of the center stone for your ring is a crucial part of engagement ring shopping. This choice not only affects the overall aesthetic of the ring but also the comfort, price, and even durability. Here are some factors you should consider when determining the perfect center stone for your ring.

Factor 1: Personal Style and Preference

Personal style should be one of the main deciding factors in choosing a center stone’s size and shape.

  • If you prefer classic and timeless pieces, round-cut diamonds are often your best bet.
  • For those who prefer something unique or unconventional, pear or heart-shaped stones can be an eye-catching choice.
  • If sophistication and elegance are what you’re aiming for, emerald or princess cut may be perfect.

Factor 2: Budget

The size of a gemstone significantly influences its price. Larger stones are typically more expensive than smaller ones of similar quality. However, this doesn’t mean that you have to compromise on quality if you’re on a budget.

  • You can opt for smaller but high-grade stones that offer excellent brilliance and clarity.
  • Another option is to choose more affordable gemstones like sapphire, ruby, or moissanite as center stones.

Factor 3: Lifestyle

The wearer’s lifestyle should also be taken into account when selecting a center stone’s size and shape.

  • For active individuals or those who work with their hands frequently, smaller round or princess cut stones would be more practical as they have fewer edges that can get caught on things.
  • Larger stones or complex shapes (like marquise, pear, or heart) might not be ideal as they tend to protrude more from the band which can lead to potential damage.

Factor 4: Ring Setting

The setting plays an essential role in determining what center stone will look best.

  • Bezel settings tend to make round or oval-shaped stones stand out more while providing excellent protection.
  • Halo settings often work well with square (princess cut) or rectangular (emerald cut) diamonds as it adds an extra layer of sparkle around these geometric shapes.

By considering these factors, you can make a well-informed decision about which size and shape suit your needs best. Remember that while trends come and go, this piece will represent a lasting symbol of love and commitment so choose something that truly reflects your own personal taste and lifestyle.

Deciphering Wedding Band Styles: Making the Perfect Choice

When it comes to choosing a wedding band, the style plays a significant role. There are numerous styles available in the market, and each has its unique attributes. The perfect choice depends on personal preferences, lifestyle, and budget considerations. This article aims to help you understand various wedding band styles so that you can make an informed choice.

Classic Wedding Bands

Classic or traditional wedding bands are plain metal bands. They have been a popular choice across generations due to their timeless elegance.

  • Pros:
    • Simplicity makes them match easily with any engagement ring.
    • They are less prone to damage as there are no gemstones.
    • They are usually more affordable compared to other styles.
  • Cons:
    • Some may find them too plain or lacking in uniqueness.

Diamond Wedding Bands

Diamond wedding bands add a touch of luxury and sparkle. Diamonds can cover part of the band (half-eternity) or go around the entire ring (full-eternity).

  • Pros:
    • Adds an extra sparkle which complements diamond engagement rings.
    • Full eternity rings symbolize never-ending love.
  • Cons:
    • Diamond rings require more care to avoid damage.
    • Full eternity rings cannot be resized easily.

Vintage-Inspired Wedding Bands

These bands incorporate design elements from different eras like Art Deco, Victorian, or Edwardian periods.

  • Pros:
    • Offers unique details like milgrain edges or intricate engravings.
    • It’s an ideal choice for those who want something different from modern designs.
  • Cons:
    • May not match well with contemporary styled engagement rings.

Shaped and Curved Wedding Bands

Shaped or curved wedding bands are designed to fit snugly with a specific style of engagement ring.

  • Pros:
  • Creates a cohesive look when worn with the matching engagement ring.
  • Comfortable to wear as it matches the contour of your finger optimally.
  • Cons:
  • It might not look as good when worn alone without the matching engagement ring.

In selecting your perfect wedding band style, it’s essential to consider how it will look with your engagement ring if you plan on wearing them together. Your lifestyle also matters; if you lead an active lifestyle or do activities that could potentially damage your ring, opt for simpler designs without gemstones. Ultimately, choose something that reflects your individuality and sense of style. After all, this is a piece of jewelry you’ll be wearing every day for the rest of your life!

  •   Do you know why you see all those five star reviews here? Because Mimi's isn't just an incredibly good jewelry store, they are also great people!

Have bought several items from Mimi's, all have exceeded expectations. Also had David make a couple new pieces from some estate and inherited gems - his creativity, attention to detail and results are amazing. Even more importantly the service at Mimi's is just incredible. It's like having a jeweler in the family!

I live on the other side of the country as do a great number of his biggest fans and customers. They are the only place I would go for any jewelry, and every person I referred to Mimi's has been equally as pleased.

    thumb Joe E.

I have purchased from Mimi's Jewelry a few times and have always been extremely happy.

    thumb Paul S.

I've made several purchases from Mimi's over the years and each time I was blown away with their fair pricing and craftsmanship. If you're looking for an honest jeweler, look no further!

    thumb James P.
  •   Found out about Mr Truong via a web forum I I read.
Ordered a Luminox watch from Mimi's , based on forum reviews of Dave's professionalism and service.
    Very easy to work with.
When I damaged my watch he got me taken care of.
This was not a big $ sale for this store, but he treated me, just a suburban Atlantan, like an A-lister.
Go see him - it's refreshing to see this type of customer service/concern in this day/age!

    thumb Doug J.

I had an engagement ring to sell and based on so many wonderful reviews, I made an appointment with David at Mimi's Jewelry. He was very friendly, honest and communicative. I'm extremely happy with my experience and will definitely be back. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy and/or sell fine jewelry!

    thumb Angela R.

My go to jeweler if I need something for the wife or if I just decide to treat myself to a new watch. I've never been to the store but I've done business with them over the phone and every one has been great. Items exactly as described and I felt the pricing was fair. A+++

    thumb John S.
  •   I had David help me with a wedding set makeover for our 35th. It turned out beautiful and I am so happy with it. He really worked with us to get the most for our budget. I also had him do a couple other things that turned out perfect. Not only does Mimi's do awesome work but David is so easy and pleasant to work with.

    thumb Lori B.

Service and quality of work have always been 5 stars here. This particular Friday afternoon, the staff went above and beyond earning the 6th star! It was near 6pm when I came in to have my battery watch replaced and customize my costume necklace jewelry, into a bracelet. The girls were so attentive and did everything on the spot. I wasn't feeling rushed out or feeling like a burden at closing time. It took less than 8 minutes to change my battery and cut the link, customizing my necklace in front of me! It turned out better than I even envisioned! Although I brought my own watch battery, and was expecting to pay labor, to which the girls dismissed any type of payment- sending me out with a smile. Thank you so much for your great service, generosity and earning my continued, repeat business MIMI!

    thumb One_ B.

I was taken advantage of. I went here to sell my bank notes, coins, and jewelry and I later found out I was ripped off. Part of it was my fault for admitting I didn't know how much my "treasures" were worth, but I also told the owner that I felt I trusted him. Big mistake! Huge mistake! Don't go trade in your "treasures" here unless you have a solid idea of how much it's worth. You will be taken advantage off without the slightest care from the owner.

    thumb Stephanie E.
  •   I have never been able to wear a watch due to rashes from a nickel allergy. The owner, Dave, contacted the director of engineering at a watch company who went through every component of a titanium watch to insure no nickel would touch my skin. For the first time in my life I'm wearing a watch and it's fantastic. This is the above and beyond customer service that Mimi's is famous for.

    thumb Todd B.

I've bought a wristwatch and a custom designed ring from Mimi's, and sold a no longer needed engagement ring to them. All my dealings with them have been a pleasure. I highly recommend Mimi's to anyone needing jewelry, even if they are not local to the store.

    thumb Mark W.

I've made multiple purchases over the years. You always get excellent service with very fair pricing.
